Webmaster Message

Unfortunately, I missed the 2012 dance, due to health issues...and unexpected schedule conflicts precluded me from attending the 2013 weekend.

I wish to express my deep appreciation to current chairpersons Tom and Nell Baker...as well as to former chairpersons Raymond and Juanice Jones...for all their work with the festival.

If you have any questions, or would like fliers for the dance, please contact Chairpersons Tom and Nell Baker, at 20292 Nells Road, Saucier, MS 39584 -- phone (228) 831-3127.

Information on the 2014 Let's Dance Weekend will be posted as soon as possible.

Location And Weather

There are various restaurants and shopping malls around Pine Bluff...more details, along with area attractions... and directions on how to get there, are at the Positively Pine Bluff Website. Pine Bluff is located approximately 45 miles southeast of Little Rock, which is in the center of Arkansas.

For detailed weather information for the Pine Bluff area, including watches, warnings, advisories, and forecasts, click here. Since the weekend usually occurs during Arkansas' severe weather season, it's helpful to keep tabs on the weather...especially since Arkansas' weather seems to change on a moments notice at times. Unfortunately, April is also one of Arkansas' most favored months for severe weather, including tornadoes.

Deadlines

The deadline for pre-registrations...mainly for lodging and RV camping...is March 15, 2014. There is a fee for any changes or cancellations, and no refunds for cancellations are given after March 1, 2014. If dancers pre-register, and find out that they can't attend, due to last minute issues, they can get a one time roll-over to 2015...but that roll-over does NOT apply, if the registration was a roll-over from the previous year.

Railroad Show

If you like trains, the Arkansas Railroad Museum usually hosts their annual Railroadiana Show And Sale, on the first Saturday of April each year. Contact the museum at their website, or call (870) 535-8819, between 9am and 2pm Central Time, Monday through Saturday for more information. The show is usually on the first weekend of the month...and for 2014, the date is April 5, 2014.

The show features model railroad layouts, railroad memorabilia related dealers with items for purchase, railroad clubs and groups, displays of rolling stock...including the Cotton Belt 819 steam locomotive (on display where it was originally built nearly 70 years ago), among with other classic railroad equipment. Door prizes will be given away. You MUST be present to win the door prizes. Photos of the 819 are by Ken Zeigenbein.
