This page provides information on the Jamboree USA
Square and Round Dance Weekend, held early each Spring in
Pine Bluff, Arkansas...and it was last updated on Dec. 8, 2009.
Webmaster Message
Due to health issues...and with doing
Amateur Radio License Exams on weekends in the
Central Arkansas area, I am NO LONGER ABLE TO ATTEND the Jamboree USA Weekend...
even though it is only an hours drive from Little Rock.
I got an email on June 10, 2009...saying that there WILL be a 2010
Jamboree USA weekend, and that information is noted below.
Even if I can no longer actually attend the dance, I will continue to do the webpage for the festival...free of charge...
as my contribution to it.
I wish to express my deep appreciation to current chairpersons Tom and Nell Baker...as well as to former chairpersons
Raymond and Juanice Jones...for all their work with the festival. While the square dancing would do me good, the long
drive is too much for me anymore...and I don't want to impose on others, because of other health issues that I have.
Plus, it makes no sense to drive down there, then not be able to even dance.
If you have any questions, or would like fliers for the dance, please contact Chairpersons Tom and Nell Baker, at 20292
Nells Road, Saucier, MS 39584 (228) 831-3127. If you have any questions about the festival, you can
contact me, and I will forward your request to chairpersons Tom and Nell
Baker.

Schedule
The 2010 Jamboree USA Weekend is set for Friday through Sunday, April 2-4, 2010. Note that
this is EASTER WEEKEND...so, if you already have registered for the 2010 weekend, and you are unable to attend...
please notify chairpersons Tom and Nell Baker as soon as possible. After 2010, the weekend will be on the second weekend
of April...and that should not interfere with Easter Weekend for awhile.
Registration will open at 1:30pm Central Time, Friday afternoon...with the Trail-In Dance,
starting at 3pm. Both square and round dancing are scheduled Friday evening. Saturday morning and early afternoon have
square and round dance workshops...then both square and round dancing Saturday evening. Lastly, there will be a
Trail-Out Dance on Sunday morning. Dancers will be given a complete schedule when they
checkin for the weekend, as there will NOT be a separate program book.
Proper Square Dance Attire is REQUIRED at the
Friday evening and Saturday evening dances...but, it is OPTIONAL at the Trail-In Dance on
Friday, the Trail-Out Dance on Sunday, and at the Saturday morning and afternoon workshops. There will also be square
dance vendors there for those wishing to buy various items.

Callers And Cuers
For the 2010 Jamboree USAWeekend, the square dance callers will be Tony Oxendine,
Wade Driver, and Marshall Flippo. Round dancing will be cued by Gordan and Mary Bower. Square Dancing will be
Mainstream, Plus, and Hot Hash. I am not sure if they will be doing Advanced or
Challenge dancing or not. Round Dancing will also be at the weekend, but I'm not sure ''phases'' will be done...
in the past, it was phases 2-4, with special sessions at 5 and 6, if I remember right. However, the closest I ever got
to round dancing was ''join hands and circle left'' (grin!).

Railroad Show
If you like trains, the Arkansas Railroad Museum
usually hosts their annual Railroadiana Show And Sale, on the first Saturday of April each
year. However, since the first Saturday of April, 2010 is on EASTER WEEKEND, the 2010 show has been moved
to the second weekend of April, 2010.
The show features model railroad layouts, railroad memorabilia related dealers with items for purchase, railroad clubs
and groups, displays of rolling stock...including
the Cotton Belt 819 steam locomotive (on display where it was
originally built nearly 70 years ago), among with other classic railroad equipment...and door prizes will be there.
Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children 6-12, children under 6 free of charge. A ''small train'' will offer rides
around the perimeter of the museum for the kids, and the kids at heart. Please call (870) 535-8819 for further details.
The museum is normally open from 9am to 3pm, Central Time, Monday through Saturday...but please call before you make the
trip...as the museum is staffed by volunteers, and as a result, it may not be open at all times.
