To subscribe, or to renew your subscription, print and fill out the form below, and mail it, along with your check (DO NOT SEND CASH), payable to the ASSDF, for $15 per year, to Brenda Griffin, 103 Indian Springs Drive, Bryant, Arkansas 72022. Brenda is the ASSDF Treasurer, and she will forward the subscription address information to me via email, which I will keep on file.
New, first time, graduates from square or round dance lessons, will receive a COMPLIMENTARY 3 month subscription to The Modern Square...but it is up to the club caller, cuer, or officers to notify the Circulation Manager of the new graduates names, and addresses. This COMPLIMENTARY subscription is given, in the hopes it'll encourage the new dancer(s) to sign up for a regular subscription, for one year or more...and to keep them informed on square and round dancing in Arkansas.
Because of deadlines, I MUST have any subscription information, address changes, etc., by the 5th of the month, preceding the month of issue. This is the same deadline that Club Reporters have to get their information to the Editor, for publication in the next issue. Once your subscription EXPIRES, or if your issue is returned as UNDELIVERABLE, your name will be REMOVED from the mailing list. Basically, I'm sure that you wouldn't want a tax refund check meant for you to go to someone else...so it's appreciated if you notify me as soon as possible if your address changes.
The reason for the deadlines are that The Modern Square is handled under a ''bulk/magazine rate'', which has LOWER PRIORITY than First Class Mail.
If your club has a Special Dance, etc. that you want listed in The Modern Square, you need to have the details to the Editor as much in advance of this time (two (2) months or more, if possible).
If you wait to email the details of the special dance by the deadline, and the special dance is scheduled early the following month...if the mail is running late, dancers may not receive their copy of The Modern Square until AFTER your dance has occurred!! Conversely, if you MISS that deadline, then it will NOT appear until the following months issue, well after the date of your special dance!!
Again, note that Special Dances and Club Reports are NOT on the website, but remain with The Modern Square. The reason is that if these were on the website, there would be no need for a publication such as The Modern Square. However, NOT everyone either has, wants, or can afford, either a computer, or internet access...so, that's why this ''policy'' is in effect.
But, the website WILL list upcoming Square Dance Lessons, and any last minute CHANGES/CANCELLATIONS on the ASSDF Main Page -- please email me with any dance changes or cancellations.
